NAME: Desertrose - her suffix "rose" was earned for her soft appearance that hid her dangerous skill in battle, as a rose hides its thorns.
NICKNAME: Des (pronounced "Dez")
AGE: 10 moons
RANK: Warrior
GENDER: Female
ALLEGIANCE: RiverClan (possibly later BloodClan)
PERSONALITY:
As a kit (small, impressionable, and far too malleable of a
memory), she held a strong attachment to her mother. It is therefore nothing
short of the worst of luck that her mother disappeared before Des was old
enough to hold a strong understanding of anything besides here and not
here. Despite being too young to form hard memories, this early
event held enough weight to form a small spot in her psyche; a crushing fear of
abandonment, and a slight obsession with loyalty. She needed to know she
belonged somewhere, to know that she had a home where no one would leave or
force her to leave. She became determined to show in every way that she was a
worthy member of the clan, training tirelessly as an apprentice and working
hard enough to become a warrior early on. Her understanding of worth has been
muddled with that of strength, believing she must be the strongest to keep the
loyalty of her clan.
Unfortunately, under her mixed perception, Des has replaced any
understanding of meaningful friendship with knowledge of battle. Her mind works
only in forms of those she trusts and those she does not; other relationships
are, for the most part, beyond her emotional capacity. The only exception is
perhaps her brothers, who have earned some greater amount of affection due to
being with her since birth (and more importantly, staying with her through the
disappearance of Cougarstar).
Des is above all intensely serious. She spends a majority of her
time focusing on some kind of work for the clan and has little patience for
what she considers “nonsense”. Yet despite her grumpy exterior, the feline does
feel some insecurity in her inability to make friends. Perhaps it is the reason
she is so aggressive towards the idea of lounging around or playing games, but
she would never admit such a thing to herself. It is much easier to throw
herself into battles than to dwell on complex thoughts, as much as they may
haunt her.
APPEARANCE:
Des has a soft coat, both in texture and in color. It is long
and thick, hanging heavy from her body and fluffing up slightly around her neck.
From afar her fur may appear to be a singular cream shade, though up close it
is an array of mottled fawn and grey, like patches of desert among stone. The colors seem to fold into one another at
junctions before separating again to form a few distinct sections. Her underside
is far lighter, an almost white shade of beige that lights up in the sun and
glows against her olive-green eyes.
Her proportions are a bit on the shorter side for a normal
maincoon, but she makes up for the awkward height with extra muscle mass. As
she is almost always training or working in some way, Des has grown to be a bit
more buff than a feline of her stature would normally be, though it is mostly
hidden under the dense weight of her coat. As her build is quite brawny, she
has difficulty with tasks requiring more tactfulness and tends to simply throw
her weight (quite literally) at problems.
PLOTS:
Her obsession with proving her own loyalty to her clanmates may
turn back around on them; Des begins to have nightmares of clanmates betraying
her and she becomes increasingly judgmental and accusatory.
Des may receive help from her clanmates and move past her
insecurities; or she may give in to her paranoia and go too far, forcing her to
seek shelter in her mother’s home of BloodClan.
Whether it is after her recovery or during her fall in
RiverClan, Des will become interested in seeing her mother again. Regardless of
her mental state, she will always fall back on family.
